Events to Make the Season Bright

The holiday season is a magical time in Spokane, WA, with events and activities to delight the whole family. From sparkling tree lightings and festive movie nights to unique cultural celebrations, there’s no shortage of ways to embrace the holiday spirit. Here’s your guide to some of the first week of December's upcoming events in Spokane for the holidays.


One-Time Holiday Events

Numerica Tree Lighting Celebration

When: November 30th, 4 PM–7 PM
Cost: FREE
Kick off the holiday season at this family-friendly event! The Numerica Tree Lighting Celebration will brighten downtown Spokane with music, holiday cheer, and the dazzling illumination of the Christmas tree. A perfect start to your holiday festivities, this event is free for everyone to enjoy.


Elf Interactive Movie Night at the Garland Theater

When: November 30th, 6 PM–9 PM
Cost: $15 per person
Celebrate the hilarity of “Elf” with this interactive movie night. Watch the beloved film on the big screen while participating in fun activities. Don’t forget to grab your tickets early to secure a spot for this holiday classic!


Gonzaga’s 10th Annual "White Christmas" Open House

When: December 1st, 1 PM–3 PM
Cost: FREE
Tour the beautifully decorated Crosby House museum, filled with Bing Crosby memorabilia and the sounds of his iconic holiday tunes. The first 50 visitors will receive a mystery gift from the Crosby family. This event is a must for fans of Bing and holiday history.


Christmas Tree Elegance

When: December 3rd–December 15th
Cost: Free to attend (luncheons starting at $55)
Experience the magic of Christmas Tree Elegance, showcasing stunningly decorated trees at the Historic Davenport Hotel and River Park Square. Enter the raffle for a chance to win one of these elegant trees or enjoy a festive luncheon on December 11th and 12th.


"The Christmas Chronicles" Pajama Night at the Garland Theater

When: December 5th
Cost: $5 per person
Slip into your coziest pajamas and enjoy the heartwarming holiday film, “The Christmas Chronicles.” This budget-friendly event is perfect for a family night out.


Hoot-Lightful Wonderland

When: December 6th–7th
Cost: $10 per person, $20 per family
Explore West Valley Outdoor Learning Center’s holiday event featuring Christmas lights, animal interactions, crafts, and hot chocolate. A great way to combine holiday fun with educational experiences!


Journey to Bethlehem

When: December 6th–8th
Cost: FREE
Immerse yourself in the story of Christmas with this outdoor walking tour at the South Hill Adventist Church. Dress warm as there is typically a waiting line to begin the tour, and plan to be outside for 25 - 30 minutes once your tour begins. No reservations or tickets necessary. 


Balfour Park Celebration of Lights Tree Lighting

When: December 6th, 6 PM
Cost: FREE
Join the community for a joyful tree lighting event featuring music, hot chocolate, cookies, and a special visit from Santa. Wear your favorite light-up holiday attire and join the magical walking light parade through Balfour Park.


Breakfast with Santa

When: December 7th, 8 AM–11 AM
Cost: $7.50 per person
Enjoy a warm pancake breakfast, craft and game stations, and a visit with Santa at the CenterPlace Regional Event Center. Perfect for young kids, this event provides photo opportunities with Santa and plenty of holiday cheer. Get tickets here.


Blitzen Bash

When: December 7th, 11 AM–3 PM
Cost: FREE
Celebrate the season at River Park Square with family activities, festive cheer, and a special meet-and-greet with Santa’s reindeer. Reindeer visits run from 10 AM–8 PM, so don’t miss out on this magical experience!


Ongoing Holiday Events

Santa Express

When: Now through December 22nd
Where: Spokane Valley Mall
Cost: $1–$12 per item
Kids can shop for affordable gifts for their loved ones at Santa Express. This charming holiday shop lets kids experience the joy of giving while staying within a budget.


Ice Skating at the Numerica Skate Ribbon

When: Now through March 2nd
Where: Riverfront Park
Cost: $6.95 and up
Enjoy Spokane’s iconic Numerica Skate Ribbon, a unique ice-skating path that winds through the park. Perfect for a family outing or a date night, this is a must-visit winter attraction.


FREE Horse Carriage Rides Downtown Spokane

When: November 30th–December 25th
Cost: FREE (tips appreciated)
Take a magical horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown Spokane every Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 5 PM. No reservations are needed—just head to the pickup location in front of the Skate Ribbon entrance.


Northwest Winterfest

When: November 29th–December 31st (Weekends)
Where: Spokane County Fair and Expo Center
Cost: Kids 10 and under FREE (with ticketed adult)
Stay warm indoors at the Northwest Winterfest, featuring the largest illuminated lantern display in the Pacific Northwest. New this year is Dinosaur Land, a hit for kids and adults alike. Enjoy cultural celebrations and dazzling light displays all season long.
